Suggestions?
Would you like to run local awareness sessions on the ordination of women in the Catholic Church?

Background music?

We recommend the dramatization/reconstruction of the ancient rite of ordaining women deacons.

This is a powerful tool to show that women did receive Holy Orders. If they could be deacons then, they can be priests now - for no one doubts the unity of the sacrament.

Why not organise introductory sessions on the women priests’ question for neighbours, friends, members of your parish?

‘Introductory Sessions’ at home

The best venue might be your own home where people can discuss things in a friendly, non-threatening environment. The discussions can be based on documents printed from this website (see below). A useful handbook for the facilitators is: Unmasking a Cuckoo’s Egg Tradition. A hand-out for the invitation could be: Women Priests - what is it all about?

Suggested programme for five evenings:

1. The influence of prejudice.

Main discussion papers could be:
* The ‘tradition’ of not ordaining women priests was not part of the real Tradition of the Church because of continuous, massive prejudice
* Women were considered inferior creatures

2. Women received Holy Orders as deacons.

Main discussion papers could be:
* When women were deacons
* Ordination ritual for women deacons

3. Baptism includes the ability to receive priestly ordination

Main discussion paper could be:
* The priesthood of all the faithful

4. Why the Vatican is wrong to suppress discussion

Main discussion papers could be:
* Rome says the ‘ordinary magisterium’ has decided the question - what is the ‘ordinary magisterium’?
* Theologians assess Rome’s claims

5. Women too have a call to the priestly ministry

Main discussion papers could be:
* Does a woman’s vocation come less from God than a man’s?
