Job descriptions

Public Relations Officer

Essential qualities we are looking for:

  • You can take charge of responsibilities. You possess creativity, can inspire people, can achieve results, etc.
  • You are a woman. Although we respect gender equality, some of the tasks required in your job make it so much easier if you are a woman.
  • You speak and write English. English does not need to be your mother tongue, but a lot of your work will be conducted through English.
  • You are committed to the cause of women. You need not be a fanatic women's libber though, in fact we definitely prefer someone with a balanced approach.
  • You have fundraising ability. You can draw up project applications, meet people, etc. The precise skills in all such things can be learnt as long as the basic willingness and ability for fundraising is there.
  • You live in/near London. Some of our work requires access to our central office in Rickmansworth. But a lot of work can be done from your home. If you live not too far away from London, a flexible solution may be found.

Important note

Most of our staff work on a voluntary basis - with expenses paid, of course. It would help us a lot if you could join us on that basis. If you are a retired executive woman, or can afford to help us without pay as other team members, we would appreciate that special gift very much.

However, do write to us if you need a full or part-time salary. Depending on the quality of your contribution to our work, we will seek an equitable solution.

Administrational Assistant

Essential qualities we are looking for:

  • You share our concerns about the position of women.
  • You have basic secretarial skills or are willing to learn them.
  • You are familar with computers or look forward to explore this new world of electronic adventure.
  • You do not mind working in a friendly or crowded environment and are willing to share our limited facilities with other team members.
  • You live sufficiently close to Rickmansworth (North London) to travel to our office without too much hardship.

Academic Project Manager

Essential qualities we are looking for:

  • You are academically qualified and familar with the academic world so that you can represent us at universities and colleges.
  • You have leadership qualities.
  • You have familiarity with Asia and sympathy for Asian cultures. The reason is that some of our projects specifically aim at helping women in Asia.

If you join us, you will become part of an international network of people who are committed to promoting the good of women.

If you accept one of the jobs outlined above, you will have responsibility for building up the support structures that make the work of our central office possible. You will represent aspects of our academic work and our campaign to the outside world, have charge of specific projects and promote our international network of supporters and friends.
