mss written in 811/812 for Hildoard, Bishop of Cambrai (790-816); from Roman exemplar, the Hadrianum, dating 786

Published by H. A. Wilson, The Gregorian Sacramentary under Charles the Great, London 1915, p. 139.

The text is almost identical with that in two other sacramentaries: Reginae 337 and Ottobonianus 313, except that this pontifical does not contain the additions for Gaul found in the other two manuscripts.  

 

Orationê ad diaconam faciendam

1. Prayer to make a woman deacon

The word 'diacona' is ancient. Later the word 'diaconissa' (deaconness) became common.
