JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF LOVE

HOUSETOP has produced a magnificent, spell-binding and award-winning three-hour video in five parts about two young people who seek God.

Wanchen's face

Yu Wan-chen in Taipei, a student of marine biology of Christian background, grows up with doubts about her faith. Are all religions not the same?

She also needs to re-define her moral stand when she becomes pregnant in college. A scholarship allows her to complete her graduate studies in London.

picture of Martin

Martin, in London, is a waiter whose ambition in life is to become a professional dancer. When he is invited to dance the role of the Creator God, he begins to reflect on the plausibility of there existing an Ultimate Reality. He wrestles with the question whether such a Ground of Being could be personal? Whether God knows us, and whether we can relate to God?

Wan-chen and Martin meet in London where they continue their adventurous journey together.

If you are part of the post-Christian world, what key is going to open the door for you?

Do you look at the temples and churches with which this world abounds and scratch your head?

In this film you see other people journey to God. It helps you understand your own journey. There are images with which you can identify, and problems that you will know. There are also new ways of looking at life that will make you think.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF LOVE deals with the topic of belief in God within a secular world. It starts from a wholehearted acceptance of all the positive values of our own age: the freedom and autonomy of the individual, the raising of living standards through technology, respect for human rights, and the discovery of truth with the help of the sciences. It shows that more than ever it makes sense to believe in God as the Source of everything we are.

Two years of intensive research, involving sociologists, theologians and other scholars have helped to formulate solid reasons why someone who accepts the findings of science still needs to believe in God, even more so.

The programme also corrects naive notions of God. It tries to show why Incarnation makes sense, since the world is ultimately to be understood in personal terms, and how evil and suffering can have meaning when God is Love.
