Enabling our volunteers to work

Your donation is crucial because it enables us, core team and international volunteers, to work for the website.

At present more than fifty volunteers, some highly qualified, give their services to us. The work all of us are freely doing as volunteers, would cost, by a conservative estimate, more than £ 150,000 a year.

Volunteers on Women Priests’s Project
Voluntary work done Number involved at present Paid?
Secretarial work in our central office, communication, scanning, editing, html-linking, etc. seven (some highly qualified) give their services freely
academic advice on specialist topics ten (highly qualified) all give their services freely
Obtaining permissions, computer programming, compiling bibliographies, research, translations from French and German into English seven (highly qualified) all give their services freely
translation from English to French two one has received part payment
translation from English to German six all give their services freely
translation from English to Dutch four all give their services freely
translation from English to Spanish five all give their services freely
translation from English to Italian two both give their services freely
translation from English to Polish one gives her services freely
translation from English to Portuguese one gives her services freely
Totals (numbers fluctuate) 45

All the volunteers need the support of our office, where activities are coordinated and where the final editing is done. Every pound you give is multiplied fourfold in value as it enables our volunteers to do their work.

All donations, whatever the amount, are welcome but here are some examples of what specific amounts can do.
£ 40 covers costs of communication & networking with our 45 volunteers for a full day
£70 covers costs of researching, retrieving, scanning, translating and editing one more document, which can then be added to our permanent collection
£ 140 covers all our costs of research, editing and networking for a full day (see above).

Wijngaards Institute for Catholic ResearchThis website is maintained by the Wijngaards Institute for Catholic Research.

The Institute is known for issuing academic reports and statements on relevant issues in the Church. These have included scholars' declarations on the need of collegiality in the exercise of church authority, on the ethics of using contraceptives in marriage and the urgency of re-instating the sacramental diaconate of women.

You are welcome to use our material. However: maintaining this site costs money. We are a Charity and work mainly with volunteers, but we find it difficult to pay our overheads.
