Nyakati za Agano la kale,hakika,wanawake walichukuwa wa nafasi ya pili katika dini. Kwa kuwa wanawake hawakutahiriwa, hawakuwa watu wa Agano kwa njia ya kipekee. Wasingeweza kutolea sadaka zao wenyewe. Waliwategemea wanaume daimai, hata katika mambo ya kidini.

Kwenye Karamu ya mwisho Yesu aliweka sakramenti ya Ekaristi. Alitaka kubakia kwenye jumuiya yake wakati wote. Pamoja nao angeendelea kumshukuru Baba kupitia kwenye mambo ya Kisakramenti ya mkate na divai. Yesu alisima, “fanyeni hivi kwa ukumbusho wangu!”

Hakika, hilo limeeleweka kuwa ni namna ya kuwapa wafuasi wake uwezo wa kuadhimisha Ekaristi katika jina lake. Mtaguso wa Trento, ulitanabaisha hayo kwa maneno haya: “Kwa maneno ‘Fanyeni hivi kwa ukumbusho wangu!’, Kristu aliwasimika mitume kama mapadre, na kuhalalisha kuwa wao na mapadre wengine lazima watolee mwili na damu yake. Hiki ndicho kila wakati Kanisa hufundisha” (1562 AD; denz. No 1740, 1752).

What only men at the Last Supper?

Wakati wa Zama za Kati watu wote walifikiri kwamba ni wanaume tu walikuwepo wakati wa karamu ya mwisho. Hiki ndicho Leonardo da Vinci alikiashiria kwenye michoro yake maarufu (ona maelezo juu). Katika maneno ya Durandus Mtakatifu-Pourcain (1270-1334 AD): “Kristu aliwapa daraja wanaume tu alipowapa mamlaka ya kuweka wakfu.”

Lakini hilo ni kweli? Wanawake hawakuwepo?

At the Last Supper women were there!

Karamu ya mwisho ilikuwa mlo wa Pasaka.

Tunajua hili kutoka katika Injili. Yesu alipenda mitume wake waiandae kama Pasaka. “Nimetamani sana kula Pasaka hii pamoja nanyi (Lk 22:7-16).
Sasa twafahamu kutoka katika Injili kwamba wanawake kila mara walishiriki katika milo ya jumuiya na Yesu.
Ilikuwa njia mojawapo ya kuashiria uwepo wa Ufalme mpya wa Mungu.

Zaidi ya hayo, familia yote pamoja na wanawake, iliwapasa walishiriki katika mlo wa Pasaka (Kutoka 12:1-4).
Injili zinataja kuwasili kwa Yesu na wale thenashara ‘jioni’ (Marko 14:17), bali wafuasi wengine waliokuwa wamefanya maandalizi walikuwepo tayari pale. Walikuwepo wanawake pia.

  Hivyo basi, twaweza kuwa na uhakika kwamba Mamaye Yesu na wafuasi wanawake wengine walikuwepo kwenye karamu ya mwisho.

Ni kwa wafuasi wote Yesu alisema kwamba “Huu ni mwili wangu.
Twaeni mle wote.
Fanyeni hivi kwa ukumbusho wangu!
Hii ni Damu yangu
Twaeni mnywe wote!
Mfanyapo hivi itakuwa kwa ukumbusho wangu(Mathayo 26:26-28; 1Kor 11:23-25).

Maneno ya Yesu “Fanyeni hivi kwa ukumbusho wangu” yalielekezwa kwa wafuasi wote waume kwa wake. Kwa hiyo, Yesu aliwawezesha wote kupokea Daraja takatifu na kuadhimisha Ekaristi.

Sawa! Awali Kanisa lilikataa kuwapa daraja la upadre wanawake.
Lakini kwa nini?
Tunapotathmini matukio ya kale ya Kanisa, hatuna budi kuzingatia sababukwa nini vitu vilifamyika jinsi vilivyofanyika.
Kwa upande wa wanawake, tuliyoyagundua yanatisha.
Wanawake walitengwa kutoka kwenye shughuli za kikuhani bila sababu za halali kabisa.

The evil of prejudice Upendeleo wa aina tatu uliwazuia wanawake kutokufanya shughuli za kikuhani.

1. Wanawake walichukuliwa kuwa wa chini katika myanja zote: kimaumbile, kiakili na kihisia.
Kwa kuwa iliaminika kwamba ni mbegu za kiume tu ‘zilizokuwa’ na mtoto mtarajiwa,wanawake walichukuliwa kama viumbe visivyokamili.
Kwa kifupi wanawake walichukuliw kuwa duni..

2. Kwa kuwa Hawa alisababisha mwanadamu kupoteza neema, kila mwanamke alidhaniwa kuwa amebeba laana ya dhambi yake.
Manawake walichukuliwa kama viumbe wenye dhambi.

3. Watu walidhani kuwa hedhi ya mwanamke humfanya najisi.
Kama viumbe najisi, wanawake walitengwa wasikaribie madhabahu na ibada takatifu.

  Kanisa lahitaji daima kujikomboa lenyewe kutoka kwenye upendeleo wa kijamii na kitamaduni unaodhuru mafundisho na maisha yake.

Hadi mwaka 1854, mapapa walifundisha kwamba Mungu aliruhusu utumwa, jambo ambolo kwa sasa haliruhusiwi kabisa na Kanisa.

Kanisa limefanya makosa mengi ya namna hiyo hiyo wakati wote katika historia yake.

Leo hii wanawake wanahitaji kukombolewa kutoka kwenyeupendeleo wa mafundisho ya kanisa ambao bado yanawazuia kushiriki katika shughuli za kikuhani ambazo ni zao katika mpango wa kweli wa Mungu.

Katika historia ya Kanisa, vitu vitatu vimejitokeza ambavyo kwavyo mtu hujongea daraja takatifu Hivi ndivyo huitwa madaraja matakatifu

Na twavifahamu kama uaskofu,ukuhani na ushemasi.
Pamoja na kwamba vyatofautiana vyote ni sehemu ya sakramenti ya daraja takatifu.
Mtaguso wa II wa Vaticano huongea juu ya ukuhani mmoja wa kimungu ambao hutendwa katika ngazi tatu na wale ambao tangu kale wamekuwa wakiitwa Maaskofu, makuhani na mashemasi. (Lumen Gentium & sect;. 28)

Women were ordained deacons! Wanawake walipewa daraja la ushemasi katika kanisa la Kale.

Desturi hii imehifadhiwakimaandishi tangu karne za kwanza tisa,hasa katika Kanisa la Kigiriki(mashariki).

Wanawake mashemasi walisaidia katika ubatizo wa wanawake uliohitaji kupakwa mafuta na kuzamishwa majini mwili mzima.

Twafahamu bayana kanuni za daraja zilizotumika. Zahusisha kuwekwa mikono na Askofu, sala ya Roho Mtakatifu ya kupewa ushemasi na kupewa stola ya ushemasi.
Soma hapa mfano halisi wa kanuni hizo.

Daraja la ushemasi lilifanana kwa kila kitu kwa wanaume na wanawake. Kama wanawake mashemasi hawakupewa daraja kihalali,basi, hata wanaume mashemasi hawakupewa kihalali.

  Wakati huo Kanisa la kigiriki(mashariki) lilikuwa Katoliki kabisa, kwani mgawanyiko wa magharibi ulitokea mwaka 1054.
